Exile & Return
A TIME TO BUILD
This year’s study, Exile and Return, invites you on a powerful journey through the Old Testament, where God’s people were called to build His kingdom in a foreign land. Their story is our story—we, too, are strangers in a broken world, called to build for His glory. As we explore how God equips and positions His people, we’re challenged to ask: Am I building my life for Christ? Exile and Return reminds us that our time to build is now.

“Then the nations around you that remain will know that I the Lord have rebuilt what was destroyed and have replanted what was desolate. I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.” (Ezekiel 36:36)
Scattered. Broken. Exiled. God’s people watched as their homes and temple were destroyed. Piece by piece, conquering empires tore their lives apart.
For generations, God warned the people of coming judgment if they refused to repent and return to Him. Far from home, many Israelites struggled to understand God's plan. Was this exile God’s punishment? Were they banished forever? Was all hope lost?
In the darkness, God called to His people once again. In captivity, God used faithful men and women to offer hope. Calling them to repent and return, God promised to rebuild what was broken and restore what sin had ruined.
God invited His people to build His kingdom in a foreign land. In many ways, their story is our story—we too are strangers in a broken world, called to build our lives for His glory. As we explore how God equipped and positioned His people in the Old Testament, we are challenged to ask: How can I build my life for Christ?
In this 10-day devotional, we’ll explore how God equips His people today. As we learn from the past, we will discover that each day is a new opportunity to build our lives for Christ.
How will we respond?
